Volume 8 with Saint John Record Enthusiast, Jeff McLennan

By | Strange Grooves | No Comments

Strange Grooves was on location for Volume 8 with one of our most anticipated guests, one of Saint John’s biggest record enthusiasts, Jeff McLennan.

We were so honored to be invited to check out his personal collection which is the most beautiful collection we have actually seen with our own eyes. He has over 2000 records and very stunning ways of displaying them. Jeff’s wife and son also have vinyl of their own in the collection. The wide variety of tunes is astounding and we are certain you could spend days just combing through them all.

Only a small area of the 2000+ records in Jeff’s personal collection

In this episode, we chat about what Jeff has been listening to lately, top 5 albums we would bring to a deserted island, some of his favorite treasures and gems he has found over the past 20 years. We chat about some of our favorite artists to listen to and for what reasons, for example, Les Paiens, Miles Davis, Deerhoof, The Sheepdogs, Primus and much more.

Cherise and I have been members of Jeff’s Facebook Group for a little while now, and we find it so valuable for sharing our music and finding new stuff, check it out SJ Record Enthusiasts.

🔮 Blogs, podcasts, live listening parties and event times, show reviews, album reviews and much more.  Please our Facebook page as it will give everyone who shares this interest a place to contribute an idea of when and where we can all get together.

In this episode, we chat about the late Tom Petty, Influence music has on us and our memories, RUMOURS, The ultimate Fleetwood Mac tribute show we attended, upcoming events and much more.

Last week, when we heard the news of Tom Petty, that was just really awful. It was just something the world did not need at this moment. Tom Petty is a sincere and very well respected man and to lose him, just plain sucks. I personally am a big @Juliette Lewis fan and I follow her on Instagram and saw in the last couple weeks she attended one of his shows, and did some live broadcasts, and it was incredible. hearing the news of his passing was surreal. Oddly enough, I thought of her when I heard the news. Someone who could relate to how much this sucks was comforting. It made think about how important plays an influence in our lives. All of our moods etc.

My dad and my grandfather always taught me mostly what I know about music to date, and one thing that always stuck out was how much they respected Tom Petty as a singer-songwriter. They would always say he seemed like a really good guy, the type of guy everyone in any band would want around or collaborate with. That to me was something to respect and to think about when listening to music, for me anyways.

We discussed how music and memories, experiences go hand and hand and really bring back vivid memories, whether celebratory or tragic, Music is emotional and it touches us and helps us cope in incredible ways. we use it to workout, celebrate, get through tough times, communicate with people among many other ways and capacities.

My grandfather was a huge music lover and always would talk about classic rock and he would let me dig through his collections. When I listen to music today, I think back to those times. Good times.

Speaking of good times, This past weekend, Cherise and I attended the RUMOURS, Ultimate Fleetwood Mac Experience at the Imperial Theatre.  WHAT A SHOW!!!!!

First off, this was different than any other tribute show I have ever attended.

  1. They were in full character for every era
  2. Their costumes and stage presence was surreal, to say the least
  3. Their energy and how they engaged with the crowd was so much fun
  4. Effort they put into the details and vibe of their show is profound
  5. Very humble folks and very talented. 100% recommend checking them out in a city near you.

This photo was taken from the band, not myself.

Thanks everyone for checking out Volume 2! We sincerely appreciate it! Please Stay Tuned, and let us know your thoughts and reach out to us!💀
