MAUDE + MONTGOMERY- Bring the Maritimes home.

By | Business | No Comments
MAUDE + MONTGOMERY  brings the soul of the Maritimes alive and allows you to take the maritime home with you no matter where you are in the world…

Featuring an incredible collection of curated Artisanal Gifts and gift boxes that offer a sense of nostalgia for east coast living. Simply beautiful items and gifts for everyone.
I recently received one of their signature maritime gift boxes and was floored. Everything from the way the box was made, the smell, the contents, I would 100% recommend checking this company out and getting one of these special boxes.
I have been working with Kerri and heather for a short time now and I am loving what they are doing with their brand and online business. The story is being told from so many different views and that is so cool

The artists, the owners, their customers, and ultimately how their customers use those special items and make memories with is bringing the MAUDE + MONTGOMERY brand to new levels. I am over the moon to be working with this company and I love how everyone in Atlantic Canada is helping each other and the community at the same time.
I urge you to check out their website and the items in their shop. The gift box alone for 25$ is a steal and is extremely well crafted. It could be used for so many things.

Specific items I really liked:

Sea Salt and Spoon  Used this to make a stew on the weekend and felt like I knew what I was doing with this special little ingredient and the stew was amazing!

Sea Kelp Soap  Some of the best soap especially for sensitive skin. I will be switching to this 100%.

Linen towels  Honestly, these make me look like I have a nice kitchen and that I know what I am doing LOL. They are very nice and made extremely well. I will be ordering some of these for the bathroom next.

Quiet Coast Candle– Love the smell of this. Light, and refreshing. I love the smell it put through the house.

The flowers…These were such a nice touch. I really enjoy all the contents sincerely and recommend checking them out.

SLAB- Wood From The Hood

∇  Audio and blog Interview with Judith Mackin of Tuck Studio- Interior Design and Decor.

All Photos by Kelly Lawson
I was honored to sit down with Judith on Tuesday at Tuck Studio on Grannan Alley for a few minutes and get a sneak peek into the SLAB project launching on November 16th. Some of the furniture is stunning and really tells a story.
I also asked her about some of her favorite musicians, concerts she is attending in 2018 and generally what she wants for her city moving forward.

Judith has a creative brain some of us creatives wish we had for Projects and design. Her work ethic and love of music, as well as sincerity toward her brand and team, are very humbling and very apparent. Judith chooses her projects wisely and with the highest level of respect for her community. This project certainly reflects that.

Moosehead Breweries 150th Party!!!

By | Business | No Comments

Saint John is a very amazing place to live. There is a lot of history and tradition here. New Brunswick is proud to have Moosehead Breweries call this place home. For 150 years they have been thriving here and brewing delicious beer.

On the night of their big 150 party, I got an invite from my friend Cherise Letson, at Huddle and I went as her guest and it was super fun and I was honored to attend.

We arrived at Harbour Station, at promptly 6:45 for our shuttle and City Transit transported us to the Brewery. We showed up, and while in line, and obtaining our bracelets we got glow sticks, pretzel necklaces, beer cozies and a whole bunch of other fun stuff.

We got on the bus and heard lots about the history and about the evening ahead of us. We arrived at the Brewery, and the warehouse had been prepared for one hell of a party. Holy Macaroni!

The lights, from Duncan Electrical, were incredible as you can guess. Rows and rows of lights, disco ball, and band lights were spectacular. the whole place was electric.

The beer and cider options were plentiful. The snacks were abundant. There was no shortage of food or drink for anyone there. The food trucks outside also offered a vast array of options for folks to choose from. While on the topic of food, they supplied more Dominos pizzas than I could ever dream of eating in 10 years, this is not an over exaggeration.

The photo booth experience was the coolest thing. Being able to immediately have a photo of the experience as well as digitally on Ipads to share in the moment to your specific social media profile. We used the Hashtag #Moosehead150Party and we saw everyone’s photos up n the screen. Smoothest most fun, completely seamless photo booth I have ever used! So Cool! Check out this company via Huddle Article.

Check out the Instagram feed from that evening.

Cherise and I had such a fun time and I am so pumped she got me to go with her. The band and dancing was just the most enjoyable time.

The band WTFunk was splendid!

Seeing friends, clients, co-workers all dancing and celebrating this rich history was amazing, to say the least. I was honored to be a guest there.

We got on the bus near midnight, and headed back uptown and again, so thrilled to have been part of that celebration.

What a great party!

Check out the other photos I was able to grab and can show 😉 haha.

Cheers 🍻

Great Expectations…

By | Business, Collaborations | No Comments

Last week, a friend and I attended a show Apryll Aileen was playing, to show our support to her, our friends who run the comedy club and the venue itself.  After a long day of work, the atmosphere was really quite enjoyable. The venue was packed, the crowd was excited.  We had a really fun time!

The seasons have started to change and a night out means something a little different to everyone. Have you ever watched a show or performer but felt like maybe you were reflecting the entire time? If you have, me too…

We all go out to support local artists, our friends, someone a friend told us we would enjoy seeing perform, many other reasons, but often sometimes the expectation of why we went and the reason we attended changes, sometimes we surprise ourselves.

Apryll Aileen, This year has been in the minds and ears of everyone, and every place she tours and performs. She just finished touring across North America and is one of New Brunswick’s top singer-songwriters. She has worked very hard and has performed at a variety of events and shows. It was really exciting to see her play YukYuks Comedy club, which was hosted by her good friend Fran Menton.

The show was opened with a spoken word poetry piece by Mikayla Hanlon and had quite a few fun surprises throughout including a fellow friend David Kirkpatrick’s daughter Payton Kirkpatrick joining Apryll on stage to sing ” Hey Sugar” for the finale. That was mega cool!

When you see Apryll play music and have fun with the crowd, the distraction is quite wonderful. Life can be quite intense for us all at times, but when we step out and enjoy music, the experience and music can be even more wonderful and more enjoyed.

Check her out on Facebook and Instagram and subscribe to her youtube here!

YukYuks Comedy club is such an incredible venue. I personally have held my own private birthday party there with almost 200 people in March. Steven Barnes and his team are the most wonderful folks to work with. They work really hard to ensure talent, like Apryll and famous comedians, and musicians from all over the world continue to come to Saint John!

Get your tickets to your next performance here

It really is a great thing that we can all come together and watch our friends celebrate their passions and successes, and together at that.

Cheers

Cherise Letson and I were destined to meet one way or another, and we found each other in two capacities. We were both incredibly integrated into the business community in NB and kept on hearing about each other and finally, we got to meet by strapping on roller skates and hitting the rink to roller skate. Since that day, We have listened to many records, in particular, The Stampeder’s greatest hits, and spent countless hours skating, and having deep talks about business and the start up scene here. Finding someone who is sincerely interested in our community and is a super amazing person is really cool.

Cherise works for Huddle. Huddle essentially elevates and shows the stories of interesting entrepreneurs and businesses throughout the region. They are passionate about making a difference by illustrating that business is creative, and a powerful force for positive social change.

We believe in this philosophy as well. We know how important, the brand, the story and every component of the business is.

I wanted to sit down and chat about what keeps her energized and give you some context about her feelings on the city currently.

Grab your headphones:)

1) What is your favorite record?
2) Tell the audience something random
3) As a professional, who is deeply integrated into whats happening in the city, business-wise and amongst the community what do you most like to write or report on?
4)Because you cover and help provide context and keep people in the loop, as well as elevate their business efforts, what do you personally feel about all the momentum our city has right now as a young professional and as a resident?
5)What advice would you give to a young person?
6)What do you find most rewarding about what you do?
Insert the other question once I hear the audio)
7)If you could predict the next few years for Saint John, what would you say that looks like?
8)Do you feel more motivated because of all the energy in the city currently and how do you see that effecting you?
9) What do you want for your city?

Audio Series 2016/ 2017

By | Business | No Comments

In September 2016, I started working with a stellar creative agency. I knew that by joining their team I would incur a wealth of knowledge, but would also have access to tools, software, resources, equipment, and a phenomenal team/support system I would not have on my own. Every day I learn something new, that ultimately helps my team and clients, our business as a whole, And I am absolutely infatuated with it.

Very Quickly the idea Fishbowl on my desk started to fill up with little notes, tips, ideas, strategies, people and connections I want and wanted to reach out and talk to. That’s when I had the idea of doing an audio series with ICS Creative Agency.

I wanted/ want these meetups to be organic, not staged, all raw conversation no edits, to be chill and valuable to our networks, consistently. Ultimately, I wanted and continue to want to talk to incredible people, and elevate what they are up to, their thoughts and the sincere feeling’s about our city and how that relates to their business, and marketing strategies moving forward.

You can find all of these audio interviews and blogs Here. I urge you to check them out, really cool folks, the raw unedited conversation about their favorite records, marketing strategies, what keeps them energized, and mostly what they want for their city. Leave a comment or a name of someone you would maybe like to see interviewed.

To date we have had featured: Keith Brideau – Historica Developments, Cherise Letson from Huddle, Comedian James Mullinger, Joanna Killen of ESJ/ Momentum Canada, Mayor of Saint John, Don Darling, Harrison Teed, owner of Pristine, Derek Riedle, Founder of Revolution Strategy, Talons of Venice and Civilized, Greg Hemming’s from Hemming’s House Picture’s, and we are only getting started for 2017’s interviews and blogs.

In my opinion, every person I interview, I have takeaways and so do they. It’s a valuable chunk of time for both parties and when the content gets distributed, people are generally curious about how these folks actually do the things they do. Example: How a comedian may do their marketing VS the Mayor of Saint John.

I am so excited to be creating more of these and to engage even more with creatives and the business community. The ability to feed the ecosystem with good content, tips, and good people is pretty amazing and energizing.

Make sure to give ICS a follow here, and on Facebook and Instagram, We have a pretty amazing Snapchat too. We do incredible giveaways, provide valuable information and fun tips and LOTS of photos of our dogs.

Thank you for checking out this post. Cheers to much more.
